Ever since Spirit Tracks was announced, people have known that you will have a friendly Phantom helping you, but no one knew why it was friendly to you.

It turns out that Princess Zelda, turns into a ghost at the very start of the game, and when the Phantom is about to attack Link, Zelda is quick to dive into the Phantom's body and takes control of it, explaining why it helps Link through many places.

Other than the CDi games, this must be Zelda's most involvement in a game.
