Working for a video-game website isn't all fun and games. In a literal sense, yeah, you do play games a lot of the time, but there are other things you have to take care of to get the job done. This includes going to things such as the eGames Expo (which isn't a bad thing. It was actually quite enjoyable), going to publishing houses (again, not a burden and often quite enjoyable) and playing games that just outright suck.
As a general consumer, you have the option of what games you want to play. As a full-time content editor/journalist, it's my job to play and reviews as many titles as possible. While we aren't as big as say IGN or Gamespot, we aren't in a position yet to have the finances to able to review every single game that comes available. However, I do feel as though I have an obligation to provide a review for as many titles as possible. In saying that, I'm often under the "burden" of playing and finishing a title that stinks. The way I look at it, if a game is more fun to write about then it was to play, chances are it sucked.
Anyway, for those of who don't know, my name is Gaetano (pronounced gay-tarn-o - it's a very old-fashioned Spanish/Italian name) and I'm an "employee" of MyMedia. I say employee because it's probably the best way to describe my position within the company. It's also to let the large hoard of you who seem threatened at my sudden "admin-ship" across all of the My game sites. While many of you have become familiar with my position and work, I still get the "this isn't news" or the "you're just another flavor-of-the-month" admin. I don't really mind, in fact it adds a little excitement to the job. But the whole point of this first of many blog entries is to introduce you to myself and my work place - I work from home in my guest house that has been more of a drink/party/bachelor-pad house then a guest house of the past 20 years.
What I'm playing this week
For those of you on XBOX Live, add my biatches! My gamertag is gaetanoIShere. I don't have that much time to get online, what with my working during the day and my consistent flow of dates and flings at night-time (ZING!) but I am up for that quick Halo or NBA Live match-up. I do try and get 2 or 3 hours online for a game I'm reviewing, so I'm most likely to be online for a particular game around its release date. Right now I've spent the past 3 days playing the bejezus out of Call of Duty 4, which I must say is the best in the franchise, and expect a review in the next couple of days. I've only recently gotten onto Assassin's Creed and it's a mixed bag for me. The concept, story and presentation is superb, but the execution is a little off. I plan on playing right through it though because it has a cool aspect about it that drags you in. It makes you want to be an Assassin for a day.
