The Nintendo DS has become the latest target of virus writers with the discovery of malware that can turn the console into the equivalent of a paperweight.

DSbrick comes in the form of a ROM that claims to be a viewer for Hentai, or a ROM loader. It will flash part of the firmware and make the DS useless, according to information from the anti-virus vendor F-Secure.

However, since such ROMs can only be run on modified units, the malware is unlikely to spread.

F-Secure said the trojan was distributed in ZIP files which had one of two names - r0mloader.zip or taihen.zip.

The news of the DS trojan comes hardly a week after the first trojan for the PSP was discovered.
