Nintendo have made billions through what can only be described as a gaming revolution. Their ability to successfully attract a larger demographic to the world of video games has filled their back pocket to the brim and given the gaming industry as a whole a significant boost. However what goes up must come down and for the first quarter of 2009 Nintendo's numbers look mediocre compared to last year. A steep drop of 40% in revenue and a plummet of 60% in profit from this time last year have been blamed on a lack of high selling software. This time last year Nintendo was swimming through the high sales of some of their most successful franchises but this year no big names have reached our shelves. Of course Pokemon Platinum was mentioned for it's high sales. Nintendo has gotten off to a bumpy start this year but a barrage of popular titles set for release later in 2009 will most likely mean we wont see more of these disappointing figures. Nintendo are not alone with Sony also reporting drops in numbers for the first quarter.
