Since it's launch in April, the DSi has sold over 2.2 million units in America. The DSi, the third iteration of Nintendo's popular handheld, now features two 0.3MP cameras, a sound recorder and editer, another brightness setting over the DS Lite and even an online shop.

Reggie Fils-Aime, the President of Nintendo of America had this to say:
"What we've seen is that if you give the consumer great value in terms of what they get for what they pay they're willing to spend and we say that based on the experience of launching the Nintendo DSi this past April." The executive goes on to note that while Nintendo's doing well in the hardware space, its products will not experience shortages this holiday season. "From our standpoint we're prepared. We have a tremendous amount of product in inventory. We've been flowing product into retail. We do not expect to have shortages on our products," claimed Reggie.

If that claim is true, it will be the first time since 2006 when the Wii launched that a Nintendo console has been constantly available on the shelves.
