It sounds to me the name change is a marketing ploy to distance itself from the age group associated with the Gameboy brand... The fact that the DS (lite) still allows GBA games to be played means it's not dead yet.
Way I see it, DS is still a Gameboy, just revamped to fool 'Ninty haters'.
.... Unless you're saying you'd rather 2 lines: one in the DS 'inovation is key' tangent and other following the 'improve the old' (ie PSP) to use the Gameboy brand. Sexy prospect but doubtful...
