Square Enix has announced they will be bringing remakes of Dragon Quest IV, Dragon Quest V, and Dragon Quest VI to the Nintendo DS, with Dragon Quest IV set for release this winter in Japan. This will be the first time Dragon Quest V and VI see release outside of Japan. The remakes will be developed by ArtePiazza and at least Dragon Quest IV looks to use 2D sprite-based graphics, unlike the 3D graphics of the Final Fantasy remakes, which you can see in the scan down below. This shouldn't effect development on the upcoming Dragon Quest IX, as that is being developed by Factor 5, though Square Enix could delay it for marketing reasons if they want to release the remakes first.
