US, August 21, 2007 - How many countless hours have we been spending on these fascinating games? A recent study report by Harris Group titled "State of the Media Democracy," it seems we haven't lost that much time as we thought.

The report found that 13- to 18-year olds spent an average of 5.1 hours a week playing console games. The amount is even less for 19- to 24-year olds: 2.8 hours a week. The overall average amount of time all consumers from ages 13 to 75 spent playing a week, according to this report, is shockingly low: 1.9 hours. Keep in mind that this is is for console gamers so WoW freaks are not included.



As far as handheld games go, gamers apparently have short commutes because 13- to 18-year olds only played for 2.2 hours a week, and 19- to 24-year olds 0.9 hours. The overall average amount of time 13- to 75-year olds spent on their handheld systems was 0.8 hours a week.

The data was collected between February 23 and March 6, 2007, and only surveyed gamers in the U.S.
