News \ Elderly addicted to Nintendo Wii

Eldery residents at Sunrise Senior Living Centre in Edgbaston have given up on the Crosswords and Bingo and are hooked on the Nintendo Wii Gaming System.

The Wii Craze started when one of the Chef's bought a Wii for his son and lent it to the home for a weekend, the Residents at the home were so amazed by the Wii that they demanded the staff to buy one immedietly. The Most Popular game is Wii Sport's Bowling.

The Owners of Sunrise Senior Living Centre are "going to invest in a whole library of games so they don't get bored" and next month the staff are organizing a special tournament for the residents with Gift Vouchers as prizes

Dr Lorna Layward, Manager of Research at 'Help the Aged',has said: "Anything that gets elderly people up off their feet and trying something new is a very good thing."

My mom works at sunrise and shes trying to get the residents a Wii! She has to talk to her boss, but he's alsome and he loves videogames so it should be no problem!
I love going to her work and talking with the residents. My mom even wants me to come in and teach all 80 residents how to play Wii Sports! How cool is that!

hey guys, great to see you're enjoying the seniors playing Wii. it just so happens i work at Sunrise Senior Living, and the residents do, very much, enjoy the Wii. its great fun, helping them to maintain balance and coordination. some of the residents are getting fantastic at it, the lady in the picture above, does a great job! xx
