Gamerthon is being touted as the largest and most prestigious game tournament in Australia. This is possibly the case as I have not heard of any other competition offering a combined total of $50'000 in prize money. Competition starts next week at the Australian Center for the Moving Image (ACMI) on Monday (31/3) and runs until Sunday (6/4). The seven day gaming fest is attracting gamers from around the world and the prize money is good incentive to travel downunder. Some preliminary events will be held at VA Cyber Cafe and finals in the Screen Pit at ACMI. Admission to the Screen Pit is free. -Gaming starts on the Monday with Dead or Alive & FIFA 08 Tournaments. -Tuesday is the Call of Duty 4 Finals offering $6000 in cash and prizes. -Wednesday, Halo 3 Finals for $5000 in cash and prizes. -Thursday, eSports Exhibition Day. Watch an attempt at the world overclocking record. -Friday, Counter Strike Source Finals with up to $10,000 in cash and prizes and a chance to be selected for the Championship Gaming Series Team. -Saturday, Counter Strike 1.6 Finals. -Sunday, Grand Final Day - Watch as players battle for their share in $20,000 in cash and prizes.
