I played this in the Arcade and on the Commodore 64. It is the first multiplayer game that I can recall in an arcade. To see a machine with 4 joysticks was very strange in the day. The machine also had an extra large screen to make it easier for all player to see. Players would yell to a specific character to do something to get passed a level so the co-op was great. I just hope a lot of this comes across to the DS and that the single player mode is still fun as well. The screen shot above shows outside maps which were never in the original.
I think an Eldude special retro review will be in order when this is released.
