Infogrames has been releasing games under the ATARI name since 2001 when it gained 51.4% share of the company. They have produced games for the DS as well as the major consoles such as V-Rally, Test Drive and Alone in the Dark and they license many other games like Dragon Ball Z.



Infogames now plans to buy the rest of ATARI for US$11 million. The merger will give Atari shareholders $1.68 per share in cash. Atari will call a special meeting in regards to the merger but as Infogames already has majority share they can push the merger through without the consent of the Atari shareholders.

The merger will allow Infogames to have more control over restructuring Atari to become a bigger player in the North American market. Infogames will loan Atari 20 Million dollars to keep the company going until the merger is finalized around August this year.

Atari was the king of gaming in the 70's and early 80's and is looking to gain respect in the gaming world once again.
