Konami basically invented the music-based genre for gaming with the release of DanceDanceRevolution. The company has now announced that it will be releasing its new instrument playing game "Rock Revolution" on the Nintendo DS as well as the usual top consoles. Rock Revolution is based around the drum kit but will feature guitar, bass and the DS will be the only console to have vocals, using the DS's inbuilt microphone. The source story mentions "The most realistic drum peripheral on the market" under the DS features which sounds like they are making a GH3 style slot-2 drum add-on. The DS will have around 20 tracks and a heap of unlockables. Use your cash to buy new equipment and stage props like fireworks and laser shows. Rock Revolution will have quickplay and career modes for single play and a range of co-op modes. Multiplayer is local WI-FI only for 2-4 players. The only online interaction will be a scoreboard to compare your progress with others. Rock Revolution for DS is due for release at the start of Q4 this year.
