To allow for the new Nintendo DSi offering gamers the feature to download new content Nintendo recently renamed Wii Points "Nintendo Points". In light of the recent announcement hope began to grow over the points being interchangeable across the twp platforms. However Nintendo has revealed that you will not be able to transfer Nintendo Points between the Wii and DSi.
Essentially this means if you use your points to buy the latest Virtual Console game then you’ll have to use the remaining points on downloadable content for the Wii. Similarly if you use your hard earned Nintendo Points to purchase DSWare games you must spend the remainder of the points of the DSi. More importantly now you’ll be suck with that unspendable 100 points on the Wii and DSi as are forced to cry yourself to sleep at night thinking “if only they could be combined”. While it’s not a massive deal just wait until you combine a newly purchased 1000 Nintendo Points with the unusable 100 Points that have been sitting on your Wii account since April only to find the latest and greatest WiiWare title is 1200 Points. Meanwhile 100 points just sits on your DSi account laughing at you. Besides being impressed with your astonishing maths skills this is a frustrating proposition.
