After that I got an Airform case and a rectractable stylus pack from eBay. I highly recommend a retractable stylus. Highly.

I've bought Hori screen protectors. They're very good, and even after I washed them they can still adhere to the screen. The only thing you need to make sure of is to remove all dust from the screen prior to application. Clean your screen immediately before application, keep a vacuum cleaner running over the screen, whatever it takes. Dust is difficult to wash off the screen protector.

A thumb stylus is the kind that came on the end of the DS Phat's wrist strap. It's pretty much a pointed plastic pad that you fit to the end of your finger, and you can easily drag your finger across the screen with it. It's useful for games like Metroid and Golden Eye where speed matters more than accuracy.

A retractable stylus is just that; a stylus that collapses into itself to fit into your DS, but can be pulled open (like an indoor antenna on a TV, is the closest description to its construction) to make it longer and therefore more comfortable to hold. My retractable stylus expands to 10.5cm, while the DS Lite stylus is 8.8cm and the DS Phat is even shorter.
