General \ Help with Nintendogs ??Restart???

Help. My daughter was given a second hand copy of nintendogs and I don't know how to wipe the previous users game. I tried holding down ABXYLR together like it says in the book but not working. Is there a trick to this or another solution.

I don't have the game anymore to check this but I just found this online:

"to restart nintendogs you get in the game and when it shows the word NINTENDO press x, y, a, b, r and L and then it will ask you if you want to restart it."

Just thought i'd post this in case you aren't doing it when the word "Nintendo" comes up on the screen.
