Tasmania it is, my dad bought some last time I was there. To use the big things, you need a permit though, otherwise you can get little incy wincy crackers.

legal? does that ever make a difference? it only means 'dont get caught'... Like the stance on guns in places like australia. All that pretty much guarantees is that cops and bad people have guns... Well and those that take personal care of themselves or family into importance.. I've seen the same fireworks as well as guns/whatever 'bad' thing you can think of here in oz... it is all readily accessible to all who wish it. the fireworks range from the simple finger removers to the industrial grade boomers. all you need to do is say 'those please'.

However you enjoy your holidays/fun/lifestyle choices, let's remember to keep it safe out there!
