First off I'd just like to say thanks to everyone for the birthday shenanigans on Saturday. While I was hoping to keep it quiet, it did give me a real buzz :P I think there may have been one or two things posted that I forgot to say thank you for, so if I missed commenting, thank you!
Now on to the not so fun news. I know talk about this has been circulating since last week so here's the truthful conformation of uber awesomeness™. As of today I am more or less departing MyMedia and all the fun filled duties that go with that. A few things have changed behind the scenes at MyMedia in the past month or so that have meant, at least for now, I'll be off elsewhere. While this is a disappointing turn of events, it's also quite exciting. I've always worked in much more traditional media, so being in such a community focused atmosphere has been a pretty wild ride and been an interesting learning experience. I'm looking forward to seeing where the combined experience will take me in the future.
So in terms of what you'll see from me on the sites, I'll still be around from time to time on the forums, and the comic series will be continuing. I'll be posting something on the future of the comics in the coming weeks (combined with a super awesome competition no less!) with a bit more detail on that. I remember when those first kicked off, I think they were seeing about 15 or so readers a week, and I was going 'OH MY GOD! 15 PEOPLE!' Now it's up into the hundreds! So as long as you keep reading them, I'll keep writing them! I'll also be around on and off as a freelance reviewer, so you'll still see a bit of that as well.
While I'm not going to spend six pages waffling on about my favorite experiences that probably no one is interested in, one thing I do want to talk about is the sheer volume of creativity people put out. Most of the time when I look at what your average website user base puts out, it's normally emulating something else, and even then it's not very good. But just seeing what everyone spends their time creating, whether it be something like a picture or a video, or a less traditional creative avenue, such as a new way of doing a review, or coming to me with completely out there ways of doing medal compos or articles or... and the list goes on, but it's simply amazing. And it isn't just the volume, it's the original thinking and that the results are actually really good! That atmosphere of the sites has always really impressed me, and also been a very big distraction at times, seeing what everyone is doing!
So anyhow, now for something completely odd, here's 10 questions Magickstar drummed up for me 20 minutes ago to answer.
Is your leaving the will of jesus?
That's a really terrible opening question, it makes us look like religious nuts. This blog isn't a place for you to convert people! Also, I should think not, more likely he's busy playing a very complex version on Dungeons and Dragons with Buddah, and they're rolling 12 sided dice to decide whether the LHC will blow up or not, losing Buddah his most experienced character, Gordon Freeman, and also a mana debuff for six turns.
How much wood would a wood chuck chuck if a wood chuck could chuck wood?
I always want to start screaming Monkey Island quotes when ever anyone says that, I know the two have little to do with each other except for a puzzle in Secret of Monkey Island 2, but it always sounds like a Ron Gilbert line to me. And is it just me or was the writing in the Penny Arcade game pretty average, what happened Ron?! *cries* Maybe I just play enough of it...
Does My bum look big in this?
Because you're using a capital letter for 'My' I can only assume you mean yours, and not the collective bums of the internet. If that is the case, yes, but if you reverse the polarity in the power couplings it should generate a low energy warp field to pull away from the moons gravitational field.
Will you still love me in the morning?
Okay, so no capital means the internet right? Well..... sorry I just got side tracked going through iTunes trying to answer the second last question and forgot what I was saying... I'll call, I swear... uh... sweetheart?
What should we name the next MyWii social thread?
I ran out of ideas after Electric Boogaloo, though I suggest a tin box and a crappy 'making of' DVD, and maybe a bonus multiplayer skin to cover development costs.
What song do you want played at your funeral?
Mona Lisa Overdrive from The Matrix Reloaded.... this is assuming by 'funeral' you mean my corpse will be tied to the back of semi while dragged on a freeway through six lanes of on coming traffic. I dunno why but that idea really makes me giggle, also I think I've lost my pills...
If you and all the admins from MyWii were on the titanic, and there wasnt enough room in the lifeboat for everyone, who would you push into the water?
No one, you don't waste food.
Thank you very much ladies and gentlemen, it's been an absolute pleasure! :D
