Cooking Mama was never never meant to be released outside Japan, it was the only target market for the game. But like anime in the late 80's and early 90's, it became an unstoppable western craze.

Launching in September 2006, and hitting 500,000 sales in August, 505 Games have come out this month with sales results and Cooking Mama has now shipped over a million units in Europe alone.

505 Games marketing director Ian Howe enthusiastically said, "Now we're all keen to see how quickly we can get Cooking Mama 2 to one million!"
