Nintendo has today sent us the official word regarding Sight Training: Enjoy Exercising and Relaxing Your Eyes, the latest game in the Touch Generation series. Hitting Australian shores on the 17th this month, Sight Training will be taking a similar angle as the infamous Brain Training series except this time players will be training their eyes.
As with Professor Ryūta Kawashima involvement in the Brain Training series, Dr Hisao Ishigaki has come on board to supervise the production of the game, a leader in the field of Sports Vision and Sports Optometry at the Aichi Institute of Technology Japan. Sight Training will be concentrating on several aspects of vision: hand eye-coordination, peripheral vision, eye movement, momentary vision and dynamic visual acuity.
The concept of training your visual abilities has been used by many people, including top athletes and racing car drivers for years. Sight Training teaches you how to relax your eyes through fun and dynamic exercises, while helping to keep the five aspects of your vision in good shape.
Hand-eye coordination relates to being able to analyse visual information very quickly, and translate it into accurate hand movements; peripheral vision is the ability to see things outside of your visual focus; eye movement is the aspect of moving your eyes rapidly to pick up a lot of visual information quickly; momentary vision is the ability to process a lot of information in a single glance; and dynamic visual acuity allows your eyes to see moving objects clearly.
To relax your eyes, after a certain amount of time, Sight Training automatically switches to a relaxation mode. During the relaxation mode, you will be guided via voice commands as to how to relax your eyes.
Sight Training hits stores on the 17th this month, we'll be out exercising our eyes to bring you the full review.
