Dr. Kawashima the face behind the Nintendo DS smash hit Brain Train has refused all compensation for his work on the handheld because 'he likes to work'. Dr. Kawashima's Brain Training has been one of the strongest selling titles on the DS and has helped widen the gamer market with players of all ages and ability picking up the Doc's game. The 48-year-old professor was entitled to half the royalties of the game (some US$22 Million) but instead is happy with just his salary (US$100,000) with the money going to his employer, the state-funded Tohoku University. It seems his family would have actually liked some extra money (who'd have thought) but the Doc who knows best was having none of it saying "Everyone in my family is mad at me, but I tell them if they want money, go out and earn it." Kawashima also confessed that he is a workaholic, "To hear this may put you off, but my hobby is work" he said. He also revealed that he doesn't have time to play his own game and that his four sons are banned from playing games on weekdays and are only allowed to play for 1 hour on weekends. He explained his reasoning for this "I don't think playing games is bad in itself, but it makes children unable to do what they should do such as study and communicate with the family."
