An unnamed developer is having problems getting their unnamed game approved by Nintendo for the DS. Yes it is all very secretive but it cites reasons for concern over the compatibility of games on all versions of the Nintendo DS. The game had freezing issues when being played on the Nintendo DSi. As a result Nintendo have refused to give the title permission to be published on the DS.
If a game currently in development is needed to be re-coded in order to be compatible on the DSi does this mean there may be issues with existing titles on the system? In response to the issue Nintendo has stated "All DS titles are compatible with DSi, with the exception of those that require use of the GBA slot." So far this has been the only case of this happening so lets hope for the best, but it does sound like quite the dealy.
The DSi is set to debut in Japan this Saturday the 1st of November, if there are issues with existing titles you'll no doubt be hearing about it sooner rather than later. The DSi does not yet have an Australian release date, although it is expected to make it's way down under and to the US in late 2009.
