Earlier this year Take-Two, the Publisher behind Rockstar's Grand Theft Auto Chinatown Wars, stated that the game would be released during during Q1 of the company's 2009 fiscal year. For those of you that don't speak Spanish or company financial babble this simply meant the game was set for a release before February 2009. Unfortunately Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick has dropped a bomb shell on us as the game's ballpark release date has been pushed back.

Speaking today at the BMO Capital Market conference Zelnick revealed that the title had been delayed until Take-Two's second fiscal quarter, which runs from February until April. These dates are just provisional and for the US, it could be months later before we down under manage to get our hands on the title. However the latest installment in the series, Grand Theft Auto IV, was granted a worldwide release, so there's a glimmer of hope yet GTAers!
