News \ Nintendo Comment on Animal Crossing Incompatibility

Last week we reported that the Australian version of Animal Crossing: Let's go to the City is incompatible with the DS version Animal Crossing Wild World for the Nintendo DS due to regional difficulties. The Aussie version of Animal Crossing Wild World is in fact a direct copy of the US version resulting in the transfer between the two games failing as they are detected as being from different regions.

Nintendo commented in a press release today.

Nintendo Australia has identified an issue with the ability to transfer data between Animal Crossing: Let’s go to the City (Wii) and Animal Crossing: Wild World (Nintendo DS).

It is not possible to exchange data between Animal Crossing: Let’s go to the City (Wii) and Animal Crossing: Wild World (Nintendo DS).

No other game functions are affected.

Nintendo Australia is investigating this matter, and apologises for any inconvenience to our valued customers.

Any further information will be posted on the Nintendo Australia website as soon as it is available.

This issue only affects Australian consumers.

I'm sure they'll release a patch for the Wii one to allow it to recognise American game carts instead.

adommer said: Wait, what! So this article states that the aussie animal crossing version on ds doesn't connect to the aussie version of animal crossing wii. So if this is only in Australia then that means its a manufacture fault.

I'm guessing that nintendo may replace all aussie version of animal crossing wii with new ones, but I dont think they are going to replace the bought games.

The "aussie" version is actually the american version
