The DS to Wii character transfer of Animal Crossing characters is region locked. Not that it should really matter since generally you would buy all your games from the one region considering the console itself is region locked. However Nintendo Australia took a short cut on their release of Animal Crossing: Wild World on the Nintendo DS. Unlike the Wii, the DS is region free, so they released a direct copy of the US version, complete with the ESRB rating (you do have to wonder why we get massive delays and still have the US classification info).

What does this actually mean? Basically the Australian version is missing the feature of transferring your character between the Wii and DS versions of the game. If you attempt to do it you'll receive an error along the lines of "I don't think you have the right game card". Sorry Rover but the Australian version you are looking for doesn't actually exist. It looks like you'll have to start a fresh Aussies.
