Wondering if somebody could help me out. When formatting a MicroSD what is the difference between FAT16 and FAT32? And which one is better for gaming on DS? I cant seem to find any information on Google that doesnt confuse me..

no i am pretty sure they are referring to the system OS if you are using so Windows 2000/XP or a new mac OS you want 32 bit so choose 32FAT and with older OS's such as Windows 98/95 then choose FAT16 hope I helped

edit: just googled it FAT 32 is what you want it uses space more efficently!!!!!!

ps. Yeah FAT16 and FAT32 do not affect the R4 in anyway except storage capacity and a few others here take a look at this:

If your using the micro sd card with a Nintendo DS flash card, such as the CycloDS Evo, the developers specifically say that it doesn't matter what format the card is, it wont even make any difference. All that matters in regards to speed is the make of the actual sd card.

Flash carts don't care about FAT versions, so using either 16 or 32 is perfectly fine.

No.

It's not the version of FAT that determines filename size — if anything, FAT determines maximum file size (which is 2GB for FAT16 anyway). What determines filename length is whether Long File Names is supported.

And it is.
