Hardware \ Slightly defective pixel on my new DSL – should I return it?

Dear fellow DS users,

About a week ago I decided to buy a DSL from EB Games so I could (only) use Dr. Kawashima’s Brain Training. After not playing a single game since the hazy year I excitedly bought the original Playstation with Tomb Raider 1 (ah… memories), I thought I would not get caught up again in the world of games and gaming consoles.
While most games are now “behind me”, I ended up getting pretty excited about the homebrew community and using my shiny DSL for more than just brain training. Now I own a R4DS card, genuine Hori screen protectors, nice case, with a bunch of other accessories on the way from around the world – looks like I’m “hooked.” Also, I carefully look after all my things, such as my 15 year old, now obsolete portable CD player that looks brand new or my large collection of DVDs and CDs without a single scratch.
Two days ago I found a small “weak” pixel on my top screen that is only apparent when the screen goes black. Promptly I ran a “pixel fixer” program which helped a little bit, but you can still notice it. Problem is, now that it is far less apparent than before, I’m considering not returning it to the store because of the –numerous- stories of people returning their DS, only to get one that ends up with even –more- bad pixels.
Should I return it and run the risk of getting DSL consoles with more and more problems? The defective pixel is hardly noticeable in normal light – should I consider myself lucky, or are there

should I consider myself lucky, or are there DSL consoles out there with –perfect- screens that stay perfect during the warranty period? This thing really bugs a fussy guy like me and I don’t mind demanding a new DSL over a tiny “weak” pixel which is neither dead, or stuck but just not “strong” enough to block all the light when activated. I just need to know if it’s worth the effort. What do you think? Besides me not being such a “fusspot”, of course.

This is a shot from my digital camera – as you can see, it is smaller than a full pixel, but a little brighter than this pic shows:

Oh, and sorry for the long post.

Wait so you bought it a week ago? If you did just simply return it. But if this is not the case you should just ignore it. I wouldn't buy a new DS just because of one pixel. Its just something ya got to deal with. Don't worry its not to bad and best of luck and have fun playing mate.

If you search for a Homebrew Program called "DSDiagnose" I think it should be able to fix your frozen pixels.

If they are dead however, you can either return the console, or if you don't want to go through that hassle, you can search WikiHow articles on how to fix them darnded pixels.

If you bought a defective product then you should have the chance to get it replaced for one that works in the way in which you intend it to work... I think thats law... (when you said DSL i thought you were talking about internet... im like WTF?!?! LOL)

I used that. On DS Emulator to fix my Monitor's dead pixel !!
Didn't work. Oh but for it to remove the dead pxel you must leave the diagnose test on for a good few hours or overnight on charge.

Don't be surprised if you try to return it to EB Games and they refuse to exchange it. I just tried to get an exchange because of a dead pixel on a brand new console from the Miranda NSW branch and the saleswoman refused to do this. She completely ignored our state's consumer law which says that a seller must not refer you to the manufacturer if the item is faulty but must provide you with a refund or exchange. I'll never go back there again.
