We all saw it coming , but the DS is now the best selling console ever in Japan, outselling even the almighty Ps2. According to recent Media Create sales numbers, the DS has sold 20,954,157 units to date in Japan, compared to the PS2's 20,901,468:

The Ps2 has sold like 140 million consoles worldwide. The DS has sold 63 million consoles worldwide. It'll take quite a massive effort to beat the Ps2 since it isn't even half-way yet.

THe PS2 has been around 10 years. I believe that the DS Lite will be replace/upgraded well before its fifth year anniversary.

For a handheld hitting 3 years it has sold very well.
