If it says 230-240V DO NOT plug it into a US socket. The blue smoke will escape and Bad Things(tm) will happen. (Okay, I don't know that the smoke will escape, but it's a bad idea, anyway )

I have a Japanese one and that won't work in Aus so I would guess that the Aus one won't be usable, but can't say for sure.

So if the Aus one says the same thing, you could probably pick up a US charger pretty cheaply.

In fact, if someone can confirm that, I might go in an buy myself a proper charger on the weekend - currently have a USB cable and a charger with a USB connection - long story, don't ask.

other alternatives are to get a usb charger, if you are taking a laptop (or staying with someone with a puter)... a car charger can also be bought for like 3 bucks, if you plan to be traveling in a car alot...

on a side note, if you buy a gamecube, nin64, or wii in america, you can use an australian adapter for it here and play it here... i did that with my 64... just cant play the games here tho, well with the 64 you can with an adapter, or a quick mod to the unit... but with cd based systems, the region lock will not allow for it... without external help...
works both ways too, take your wii, buy an adapter in the states (or wherever) and play away! (the games you take with it that is)...

But for the record because mine is Amercian DS (Not DS lite) the charger that came with it is a completley different charger and it wont actually fit in Australian power sockets, but the good news is just grab an GBA charger and that will charge it with no problems
