Software \ Mario Cart Unlockables

Okay forgive me but i didn't have time to sift through every thread on the forums to find the answer for this but it's more of an advice question

I'm currently playing mario cart as it happens to be one of my favorite games for the Nintendo DS, so far i have gotten a gold Cup on all the races for the 50cc on Nitro & Retro cups, same for the 100 cc and also gotten a gold cup on the 150cc nitro...

I'm having difficulty getting 1st place on any of the races on the 150cc Retro tracks as it's provibg too difficult the cpu's are too hard lol...

I guess my question to all this is, if you are reading this and have completed this what character and cart did you use or you can recomend ?, i wanna try and get the ROB character and mirror mode next and also unlock all the carts for each character next.

Any Advise is apreciated

EDIT: Okay i finally did it, managed to finish the 150 cc both on retro and nitro cups and unlocked Mirror Mode, but it took alot of attemps and trying different characters and carts etc

Yeah i just got Rob today doing the Retro circuts on the 150cc mirror, it was very hard but after several attempts i managed to beat it, next goal is to finish getting gold cups on the nitro circut on the 150cc mirror so i can get all the carts for each character

rob is only good with speed not anything else maybe items

In order to beat staff times, different terrains require different vehicles. For the classic tracks, go for a vehicle that has better handling. I often go for that tank or waluigi's crane vehicle because of the extra boost after drifting (and the tanks off road ability).

Umm... I didn't know that choosing a specific character contributed to the vehicles specs.
