Software \ SNES Emulation

Howdy campers!

I'm having a ball with homebrew gaming on my DS thanks to my R4. I haven't had as much Quake deathmatch fun since the late 90's.

The next frontier for me is SNES games/emulation. I've tried a few SNES emulators with varying results. I'm wondering if any MyDS members could recommend a SNES emulator?

That seems to be what I'm finding. I just had to ask in case there were some emulators out there that I wasn't aware of. I suspect that the DS may have enough grunt (and memory with slot 2 expansion), it's just that there were so many variations on SNES hardware modes and cartridge chips (DSP SFX etc.) that an all in one emulator is difficult to create.

It's a shame... a pocket SNES would make my day. Lucky for me, I still have my original unit and all of the Super Star Wars games.

I still pull mine out to play Super Mario Kart. It was the first and still is the best IMHO

The DS has no hope of emulating anything more powerful than a NES, I think. The processing power you need to emulate all the processes of an entire system are several times what the original system actually had.

The SNES CPU had a maximum bus speed of 3.58MHz. The ZSNES emulator for PC is one of the most CPU-friendly SNES emulators. A PC with 200MHz will be able to run it fine.

The DS has two processors, with 67MHz and 33MHz. But the DS has only 4MB of RAM built in, and the memory expansion adds only 8MB, and that memory is slower than what is built in.

i use snemuleds on a gbamp with a 2gb cf, now i use an r4 with ezflash v 3 in 1 expansion. works like a charm. especially the newer ones.
