Software \ R4 "Cheats" and "Real-Time"

Ok, I know this sounds like an utterly nooby question, but can someone explain to me the importance of using the "Real-Time" feature?

I would like to know (in this context) what Real-Time is, how to utilise it(apart from ticking the box) and basically a mini-manual on it.

Any help would be appreciated, Thanks!

Can't speak for the R4 but when it comes to the Supercard DS One which was the first with real time save, this feature allows you to save anytime anywhere. With most games you only save at check points, with real time you can save at any point. So if you are playing a hard level and keep getting killed at the end of the level, you can save just before the kill point and return back to the point without having to go through the whole level. This feature is also useful for those games that do not have saves or provide you with passwords to get to a certain level.
