Assasins Creed-Altiar's Chronicles Review - 8/10
Assasin's Creed Altiars Chronicles came as a big surprise to everybody, as Ubisoft only released screenshots a month before it's release! Many people heard that it was coming, but in what form? A card game? A 2d sidescroller? No, this was A full 3D assasin's Creed with all the Assasinations You could ask for.
For me, the story didn't really sink in. I don't know why but game just didn't make me care. I think because there was no one you would care about other that Altiar, the Mysterious Assasin who always has hood on. The story is Just an Excuse for the Assasinaions,which raises a question: Why is it Altiars Chronicles, there really isn't much About his past other than killing.
The first time I saw Altiars Chronicles, I was impressed. Full 3D characters and Buildings, Ok textures, and Much more that is only Rivaled by Phantom Hourglass and Mario Kart. Of course there are some jagged edges, and glitches, but if you ignore all that: DS Graphical Perfection!
You'll be constantly going to new places like Jeruselam (spelling). It shows altiar riding his horse on a 2D map, but you don't actually get to ride it. Why? Probably to save time, because you're always moving, but a little Horse riding would be nice.
In my opinion the D-pad doen't work well with 3D games but this still isn't a very big issue. The combat in Assasins Creed can get so repetetive you just want to flee from enemies. Weapons help put some vareity into it but you wont be using them often. There are also a few tricky puzzles available,but sometimes they seem to get easier.
As for touch screen controls, you'll need to touch your weapons on the bottom screen to use them, and there are two minigames you will be doing often to get something from your victim. One is Interregation(touch parts of his body with the stylus) and Picpocketing(drag the valuable around things in his pocket.
Altiars Chronicles is great and it surprised everyone, but be prepared for repetitive gameplay.
