Touchmaster - 8/10

Midway have released 23 of their most popular touchscreen games to the DS in the form of "Touchmaster"

Touchmaster is a game that can be enjoyed by people of all ages with classic games like Solitaire, Mahjong pairs, Checkers and Trivia. It's perfect for people who would like to sit back and relax and in many cases..not have to think TOO much.

Touchmaster won't make your jaw drop with it's sound or graphics but it's really the challenge of the games that keep you coming back for more.

Games are organised into 3 categories. Cards, Skill and Puzzle. Your most played 4 games out of the 23 will automatically appear on the opening menu screen under "Favorites".

There are 9 games in the Cards category.

There are 7 games in the Skill category.

Pond Kings (Checkers)
Artifact
Hot Hoops (Shooting hoops as in Basketball)

Trivia (General knowledge questions)
Word Search

There are 7 games in the Puzzle category.

Crystal Balls
Mahki
Pairs
Times Square
Mah Jongg Pairs

Wordz (think Wheel of Fortune)

Touchmaster also take advantage of the wifi system. By registering a username you are able to post your highscores online. These can be viewed both with your DS and online at the Touchmaster website. You are able to see your ranking worldwide as well as how you rank against other people for the day.

Tournaments are available but only when Midway decides to set one up. This would be one of the cons of the game, you are unable to set up your own tournaments.

Another con is that some of the games could use a little more information in the rules but with a bit of trial and error it's fairly easy to work out the goal of each game. In some games the screen is a little cramped and it can get frustrating when you accidently tap the wrong playing piece(s).

Overall, this is a good game to add to your collection if puzzle style games are your thing. The challenge of trying to beat your own highscore or trying to climb the worldwide ranking will keep you coming back again and again.
