Joel Jewett the president of Neversoft, the developer behind the Tony Hawk games has confirmed that the studio will no longer develop games in the popular skating series. The company will now solely focus on developing Guitar Hero titles which are also published by Activision.
“It's probably best for the franchise,” said Jewett. “It's time for someone else to add fresh ideas to it."
Activision is yet to confirm who will develop the next title in the series which is already in production. Rumour suggests it is Robomodo, who are comprised of ex-EA employees. They claim to be working on a "high-profile extreme sports title for Activision Blizzard."
Activision have kept most things about the next title under warps but have confirmed that it'll ship with a skateboard-controlling peripheral, to offer players the chance to step into the shoes of Tony Hawk and onto the skateboard (finally we can do those backbreaking falls for ourselves).
