News \ Nintendo Reveals Wii & DS Lifetime Sales
Nintendo has revealed that both Nintendo DS and Wii hardware sales fell in the last quarter, compared to the same time last year. In doing so they have also released total sales figures to date.
The DS saw a drop from 6.94 million total DS units sold year-on-year to 5.97 in the past quarter. Overall sales saw a slight increase in Japan, but a decline in every other region.
The Wii, however, took a massive hit as Nintendo reports that they only sold 2.23 million units compared to 5.17 million in the same period last year.
The Nintendo DS, including the original, Lite and DSi, has sold 107.75 million units worldwide to date. Of those 6.68 million are DSi consoles. The Wii has sold 52.62 million units to date, and is the clear leader home console leader (in sales) despite being doubled by its handheld brother.
