These figures are crazy! The people of Japan must be really crazy about the monsters we call “Pokemon”. The sales figures released by Media Create for the Nintendo DS Pokemon duo Pokemon Diamond and Pearl proves so. Just one week after the release, combined sales already total to a grand total of 1,575,266!
The games Pokemon Diamond and Pokemon Pearl hit the stores of Japan on the 28th of September. This store was immediately overwhelmed by eager and anticipating fans. The pictures that are found here are proof of this. Imagine this times all of the games stores in Japan! According to retailers, Pokemon Pearl sold 762,029 units and Pokemon Diamond sold a whopping 813,237 units. These numbers surpass prior first week sales of all the other Pokemon titles.
The genius Tsunekazu Ishihara was responsible for this latest craze. As of now, Pokemon is the second biggest game franchise ever. The latest titles sell for 4,800 YEN and should be about $60 Australian when it comes out as an English release later next year.
