Posting Throughout MyDS

Everyone may post, but please remember there are reasons for posting:

 • To reply to the previous post.
 • To have your own input to the topic (thread) at hand

Basically that's it, you can post to reply to somebodies topic / post, or to reply and have your input to the "Topic" at hand. Anything else is considered spam.
Spam is annoying and it clutters up the threads making them all over the place and hard to follow.

Spam/Flaming

 • "Harrasment"
 • "Abuse"
 • "Racism"
 • "A reply or post that has NOTHING to do with the thread"
 • "WTF"
 • "Slander"
 • "Linking pages of no interest to the topic"

The list goes on and on, but please use your brains, spamming and flaming will not be tolerated here.

Please do not double post, if you wish to change or add something to what you've said and you are the last person to have posted please use the edit button located in the bottom right hand corner of your post.

Creating and Placing a Thread

If you have a question or a problem there is a fairly good chance someone else on the site has had the same issue or asked the same question.

Simply use the Search Bar up the top right hand side of the site, and click "Find" once you have typed in the phrase you're searching for.

When starting a thread, think carefully to what thread starts into what category. For instance:

MyDS.com.au
Place anything relating to the MyDS.com.au site here
NOTE: this is the default option, please ensure that you do not leave threads here if they should be in another section.

General
Anything that doesn't really fit into a certain category but still has something to do with MyDS or the DS itself or anything related to it.

Hardware
The DS, or attachments to it that are hardware, in here talk about any hardware related to the DS, or closely related to the DS.

Software
Games, or other things like the DS MP3.

Pokemon
Just talk about pokemon and anything related to it, please try to use the Pokemon general thread for a majority of Pokemon related issues.

Nintendo Wi-Fi
Anything to do with Nintendo Wi-Fi, games, and problems you face with it.

When posting Videos from Youtube in the Video section, please remember:

 • Your video you post must be Somewhat Nintendo related or related to gaming in some way.
 • If you find a video that you think breaks one of these rules, simply post so in that videos page or PM an Admin.
 • If the Video has already been submitted again simply post so in that videos page or PM an Admin.
 • Please make sure that your video does not include:

 • Racism
 • Swearing
 • Drugs
 • Pornography
 • Sexism
 • Religious Bashings
 • Any other Unequality

Note: we do allow off topic videos on this site, but only a small amount of them. Constantly posting them will get you banned.

If an Admin sees you spamming videos in the video section they will get a warning, maybe another followed by an indefinite ban.

Review Section

When Writing a Review, please keep in mind to:

 • Make Sure it is at least 200 words long or anywhere near that
 • Make sure it doesn’t include swearing, or inappropriate language
 • Make sure the Review has something to do with the game
 • Include at the bottom of your review something like:

Graphics - 10/10
Story - 10/10
Gameplay - 10/10
Sound - 10/10

If your review is really well written, it will be recommended. Reviews are not to make 5 words posts long.

In the Gallery pictures must be uploaded from your computer. When uploading a picture make sure that:

 • It has something to do with the DS or consoles
 • The picture is big enough to be understood
 • The picture does not include:

 • Racism
 • Swearing
 • Drugs
 • Pornography
 • Sexism
 • Religious Bashings
 • Any other Unequality

We will allow some social pictures but not too many of them. Anything that is shown in the wrong way will be deleted and user warned once followed by a ban.

Same goes when you comment a picture, keep within the rules

General discussion about Homebrew is allowed, specifically Flash cartridges and their capabilities, places to buy Flash cartridges, and places to download Homebrew applications. You may link to these sites.

You may discuss commercial game ROMs, or 'back-ups', but you may not discuss where to download them. Commercial games are not Homebrew. You may not ask anyone on the forums how to obtain ROMs. You may not link to sites that contain downloads or links to downloads of ROMs, even if those sites are Homebrew sites. You may not direct people to torrents. You may not indicate on which page of a search a good ROM site is.

If you break these rules we will:

 • Delete your response and any response related to it, or delete the thread depending on severity and original topic, and

Banning and Warning

Warnings
Admins patrol the site and if they see you breaching the Rules listed throughout this guide, and they think you have conflicted with them to a certain point. They will notify that you have an Admin Warning in your Inbox. Admin Warnings are simply a way of notifying you that Admins are aware of your behaviour on the site and that if it continues they may ban you or if it is minor send you a final Admin Warning, meaning it is the last chance.

Banning
Banning a member is when they have breached the Rules of this website too much. You would normally have been warned beforehand, unless what you ave done was considerably wrong. After you have been banned, an Admin will e-mail you on the e-mail you provided when signing up to the site. This will tell you how long you are banned for whether it be 24 hours or a week or forever.

IP Banning
If you are banned, and make another account before your ban time is up, Admins can track it. And when this happens, will organise you to be IP Banned, meaning that you cannot make another account from that modems IP again. This is as far as banning someone on MyDS.com.au goes.

Ok there's been some complaints about the excessive amount of Pokemon threads that have been appearing. We are aware that Pokemon is one of the most popular games available for the DS and we are not stopping you from talking about it, we just want to consolidate some of it.
If possible please use the threads that have been provided.

If you have any questions that you want answered regarding Pokemon games then use the Pokemon FAQ and general talk Thread www.myds.com.au/
If your interested in trades and friend code exchange then use the Pokemon Trades and Friend Codes Thread www.myds.com.au/
Just follow the instructions stated in the first post and have a look at all the other posts to see if there is anything that interests you.

Please don't make one thread just to trade one Pokemon.
The threads mentioned are provided to make it easier for you and to keep the home page neater.

Multiple Acounts - By Single User

Making multiple accounts by the same person is not allowed on this site, previous instances like someone making another account for fun, and even worse, to make another account in pure intention to flame or spam.

As Admins, we can trackwhat computer you sign into, in which account, and when, so if you ever think of trying to get past as, bad idea. Using multiple accounts on the same computer if it is someone else like a family member is alright, or a co-worker.

So in future please use the same account, and most importantly, do not make another account in the sole purpose of spamming/flaming/abusing.

Note: One account can get you into all of the MyMedia.net.au sites, no need to make another.

MyDS has a ZERO TOLERANCE POLICY TO COPY AND PASTING WHOLE NEWS ARTICLES.
This is causing a lot of problems and if nothing else is just plain copyright infringement. While we do ask that members take the time to submit well written articles, copy and pasting is not a way of doing this.

Anyone found copying and pasting whole articles will have their post deleted (a large kudos penalty) with a message from the Admin team. The news article will also be submitted to the news team for follow up.
