Software \ Dementium: The Ward (first thread!)

Eruntalon says:

For those of you who do not know already Dementium: The Ward was given an early release in the United States, prior to its planned 31 October expected release date. Fortunately I have already received mine after prompt overseas shipping.

Has anyone else played this yet? I would have to say that this is one of the best DS games I've played so far.

I'm currently trying to get past the start of the eighth chapter: I'm stuck in the green room full of mouths. If anyone else knows what I'm talking about and has been able to get past this section then please let me know what your strategy was, as FAQ's for the game are in limited supply.

EDIT: Hooray, I got past the green room!

I've heard quite a bit about this game and have added what what I could regarding this, I hanging to get my hands on a copy of this.
With the limits aside how does it look?

The game could easily match the graphics of, say Half-Life for PC in a low resolution? but added to this are elements of Doom 3 - the game is extremely dark and it becomes neccesary to constantly switch between your weapons and a torch. The sprite affect coming from the torch alone is pretty fancy for the DS, let alone the way the torch light emphasizes the scary atmosphere.

There are however some down sides about the game that I consider personally: the map that charts your location is not implemented very well, as you have to switch between it and the game, plus you can't write on the map like you can with your notepad using the stylus, which would have been handy. The map is also a bit inaccurate.

Enemies respawn in rooms where you have defeated them, if you move from one room to another, then backtrack to those rooms.

There's too much health and ammo lying around the levels.

The music could be better, as I read one person's description on some forums which summed it up for me as 'carnival music on acid'.

What else... there could be more usable items in the game? The developers seem to have emphasized clutter in the game environment by adding stacks of debree, a lot of blood, and a lot of doors which you can't open, but that's probably better than bare hallways.

Buh? What? Disagree. It looks something like Lifeforce Tenka on the Playstation, but both clearer and blockier at the same time. This is Lifeforce Tenka:

But yeah, too much health, developer chose horrible way to cut off draw distance (should have used fog instead of a solid black nothingness), horror elements hokey (but this can't be helped).

Eruntalon says:

Ok ok, so maybe Half-Life is a little bit beyond the league of this game in comparison of visuals. But I refer you to a half-life mod entitled Afraid of Monsters which is very similar to the style of Dementium.

Just finished it today. The final boss was a joke - so much of a build up with all the winding corridors and massive stashes of ammo, to end up with a 1 minute fight in a tiny room.
