Looking at possibly getting a DS for both my kids and wondering if the DS is the way to go?

I just recently purchased a PSP for myself but dont want to spend that sort of cash on each of my kids....

Any thoughts?

As long as they take it easy on the touch screen I think they'd love it! I have an almost 5 year old and he'd love to play my DS...if I wasn't so protective of it. LOL!

Seriously though...if you do get a DS for them..get a screen protector on the touch screen..tell them not to tap or press on it too hard and it'll be sweet. There are some great games on the DS for kids their age. They'll love it.

My 5yo nephew, 7yo niece and 10yo nephew all hijack my DS when they see me and they love it. So much I had to by one of them their own. If you're going to give a DS to kid in singe digits I would suggest getting a screen protectors to avoid those nasty scratches.

All my little cousins saw mine and after that got one. I reckon that most of the games are aimed at maybe 5-10 yrs old. But some games can be enjoyed by older children and adults. I still love Cooking Mama.

3 year old half/step cousin and 6 year old half/step cousin have one
they love it
lol

DS is more child-friendly than a PSP
I only use my PSP for modding
the games arent really suitable for them

yes, my 2 yr old and 7 yr old have and love theirs... it is best to get them each one of their own to prevent rivalry, and it is fun, educational for them, and at times they will entertain themselves for hours at a time... pretty awesome... but for the young one, avoid the simpsons game, as i am always getting asked for help jumping around... heh

i dont advocate screen protectors, but if you feel the need, they are cheap enuff, but i dont feel they are needed... just teach them to be gentle.... and get ds phats, not lites, they have yet to hurt theirs... but you should tether a stylus to it tho...

my two year old plays many games, loves wario ware... is so neat to watch her play, she does far better than any 30 year old that i have let try... granted she has been playing longer, but still....

she had worked on her ds the whole day long, and then brought it to me and it was wario ware going thru the end credits, i was extremely impressed, and proud as i had heard her fussing off and on while playing it, but she stuck to it, and got thru it!
