Homebrew sucks, I am against it. Why can't people just play games without using cheats and modifying their games? -_-'

Because they can. Why not push software to see what it can do? And Homebrew is not about modifying or pirating games in the first place. It's about creating something cool to share with other people, be it a Z-Machine emulator, a comic book reader or a GPS frontend.

The Supercard Lite is super useless. Limited Homebrew compatibility. Go for an M3 Lite.

An M3 is a flash cartridge that lets you run homebrew, media and *sigh* game backups. It is the most-supported Slot 2 flash cartridge currently available.

And I point all readers of this thread to the Guide I created: Getting Started with DS Homebrew. www.myds.com.au/

Push software the simple way, your mind! God gave it to us for a reason. If nintendo wanted to give us a Z-Machine emulator, a comic book reader or a GPS frontend it would be in a ds. Then again I spose adding those things to your ds it pretty cool. I am more against the "cheats" side of things. Thank you for giving me a more understanding.

Thanks desi, your reply was the only useful one. I did check the guide you made it was helpful to an extent. I just wanted to see if i could get some feedback or recommendations on the devices people use.
Looks like the M3 is the best, is the M3 combo bamboo gaming are offering any good?

desi says:

I haven't bought that combo, but I reasonably assume it's good, or else they wouldn't be selling it. I personally have an R4DS in Slot 1 and an M3 Lite in Slot 2, with the R4DS acting as a Pass Key.

I only have this combination because I bought the R4 much before I bought the M3, but if I was just starting I would have bought a combo pack.

For feedback on what people here on MyDS use for Homebrew? You'd best look to Google or PM me directly. Most people here, as you can read, are either uninitiated to Homebrew, uninterested, or rabidly opposed for one reason or another.

Writing software and creating hardware to circumvent a system's protection and get it to do things never intended isn't using your mind? Why do things the easy way? Why must you settle for what Nintendo decides to give you instead of deciding what you want out of your system?

Anyway, most of the awesome things Homebrew gives us (Z-Machine and legacy system emulators are the programs that stand out for this example) cannot be given to us by Nintendo because that would mean Nintendo would have to license them from their original creators, seeing as they would be making a profit on the original work. Homebrew, generally being a not-for-profit venture, has more freedom in these matters.

Podgie says:

okay you win, homebrew owns. Lol. You should become a debater. Very good.

03/12/2007 Brisbane

desi says:

Heh, yeah, I rock at debating. A few days ago I argued for the Speedy Deletion of a Wikipedia article with three guys opposing me.

And I shot down every one of their arguments with reproducible evidence. Page was deleted in a hour.

Owned.

desi says:

You might be able to get them at shops, but you'd be going out of your way. Many websites sell flash cartridges.

WiiMaster says:

btw everybody, i bought the m3 lite + passcard3 and a 1gb micro sd card. Its brilliant! haven't had a game stuff up on me, so if your considering getting one, i can happily reccomend it. Btw thanks a heap desi for telling me about it and even talking me into it lol. Cheers!

The M3 Lite, if you'd look at its product description, comes with several unit cases, one of them being a standard GBA-sized case so that it can be used with GBA, GBA SP, GB Micro and DS Fat.

There are many other Slot 2 devices, but I recommend the M3 Lite for its compatibility. The Supercard (in any of its forms) is a popular device, but has lousy compatibility.

WiiMaster says:

Oh yeh also, this is concerning me now, how do you change the slot 2 case, i have a white ds, but am having to use a black slot 2 cartrige, how do you go about switching them? Lol thanks again desi

03/22/2007 Melbourne, Victoria

desi says:

Umm, right, you undo the screw on the back of the M3 Lite's case (small Phillips-head screwdriver) and put the circuit board inside the new case. The circuit board only fits properly in one orientation.

03/22/2007 Sydney

WiiMaster says:

wow im an idiot, also i was too scared that i'd break it lol, thanks again desi
