Pet Alien Review [DS] INTRODUCTION Pet Alien was a game which took me by surprise. Never heard about this game and thought i would give it a try. Thankfully the experience was a good one even though it was a short one. GAMEPLAY This is a puzzle game. The main game is Adventure. In this mode you will be required to complete a set number of puzzles in order to reach a boss battle. These puzzle show a similar layout to pokemon dimaond as your character sand environment are in 3d. Each puzzle is a little area where you use one of five aliens to complete the puzzles. COmpleting puzzles is achieved by collecting all the green gems and reaching the green base. Each puzzle gets more complex as each alien has a special ability. 1 can sprint, 1 can push blocks, 1 can smash certain objects, 1 can stick out its tounge and fit into small gaps and 1 can fly momentarily. You will need to discover in the later stages which alien to use as there will be options to do so. Adventure mode consists of 80 levels where to rescue your human friend. Once Adventure is complete Marathon is available, where you complete the puzzles in random order but in a set time limit. This is to add some lastability. Various other game modes include mingames and gallery which both are uninspired. ADDITIONALS The touchpad is barely used and the microphone functionality is nonexistent. LASTABILITY & DIFFICULTY Lastibility is not a strong factor...once you complete the 2 main modes, the game is pretty much complete and nothing to do. THe diffculty is pretty low, this was defintly aimed for kids under 11. I still had fun figuring out the puzzles but i would wait until the price drops before you go and get this. Its a short game, not very difficult. But its practical for quick jolts of play. THere are no multiplayer modes which add to its lacking feATURES. OVERALL Buy this game if you find easy puzzles amusing. I did it for ****s and giggles. Otherwise ignore this title until its under $20 AUD.
