Mario Kart Ds - 9/10

The first Mario Kart racing game on the ds was a big success. With so much fun you will be hooked on this game forever play it everywhere and anytime. Mario kart ds isn’t really different to other Mario Kart games its racing but there are some differences in this game which made it better than the other Mario Kart games. But there are let downs to but its still a great game that everyone would enjoy.
This game can bring back some memories since they have brought characters and courses from the past and I experienced the old tracks in the old Mario racing games I have never seen before in my life but now I have finally seen them.





Gameplay: As I said its nearly the same as the old Mario Kart games but it’s a bit different so ill say this after in the review so just sit down and enjoy the ride as ill start with the Gameplay.

With 13 characters in the game with their own karts you can always find the perfect kart for a course.
The characters are Mario, Luigi, Daisy, Yoshi, Wario, Bowser, Bowser Jr, Donkey Kong and Peach.
They are the characters you can use when you first get the game now ill say the 3 characters or 2 if your not a hacker. They are R.O.B, Dry Bones and finally Shy guy the first 2 I mentioned can be get in the game but Shy Guy it’s a different story this is when I start how Mario Kart let me down.
You unlock him by by using a AR (Action Replay) this is an cheating device I absolutely hate and I recommend you not to buy one. Why don’t buy this? Because cheating is for n00bs and the device is useable on online gameplay or you could play as the character by doing a multiplayer match, and downloading via DS Download Play. But you don’t unlock him you just get to play as him its like you unlocked him but not playable whenever you boot up Mario Kart ds.
Now to the actual gameplay in the game you have lots of activities which include cars first is the Grand Prix in the Grand Prix there are 8 cups 4 tracks in each cup and 2 sections. The sections are nitro and retro: nitro is mushroom cup, flower cup, star cup and special cup in these cups there are the new tracks which were made for Mario Kart ds.

Now ill tell you guys about the retro cup, the retro cup are the tracks from the old Mario kart games there are 16 old tracks also. This is good to me because I saw the old tracks which I have never saw before. And here they are:

Peach Circuit - Game Boy Advance
Luigi Circuit - GameCube


Banana Cup
Donut Plains 1 - Super Nintendo

Those are the courses now ill tell the items yes items. This isn’t a racing game like others its racing and smashing. Some items can give you boost and some will slow down opponent. The items are: red shell, green shell , bannana , star, bullet bill and more.
These items will help you to victory you will only get good items if your coming in a bad position. The activity is challenges there are 8 levels each have 12 tasks and then a boss they will give you a instruction do it and a guide.
And there is battle you can vs. computers in a battle like balloon battle.
The big one is online but its destroyed no you cant send records or receive you can only play randomly or friendly I recommend friendly because randomly you will find a cheater but if you do disconnect. Friendly is better because you would know that person very very well and can trust them.
And finally there is time trials you can try and get the best record and to help they will give 3 mushrooms to help you.

Graphics: Yes they are good great tracks inproved the old tracks look and made the new tracks with style I like how they made rainbow road look it looks marvelous no doubt about it.

Controls: The controls are very basic you will now quickly the D-Pad is to turn, B to reverse, A to accelerate and R and L is to reverse sadly no touching gameplay.


Conclusion: This game is great even though there is letdowns but still buy this game you wont regret it. Its very old game nearly 3 years old and people still play it so you wont get bored of this game. And it should be cheap so get it.
