I'm a bit of a simulation fan from WAY back. Sim Ant, Sim City, Sim Farm, The Sims...i've played and loved them all. It's always pretty safe to say that i'll enjoy a sim game when I play it. I hadn't even heard of Farm Life until I saw it sitting on the shelves. I took one look at the back and purchased it right away. The colourful graphics hooked me right from the start. I could NOT put this game down for the first few days of playing it. It's almost a Harvest Moon style game. Your task is to run a farm successfully. The first difference I noticed though is you pretty much get straight into the farming without all of the annoying chit chat with numerous characters first. This is more of what I would call an actual farm simulation game. You'll need to clear your land of trees, boulders and stumps. I started my first field of carrots. There's not an awful lot of money on hand at first so everything needs to be done by hand. Fields take time to prepare. Depending on which animal you choose to have on your farm...there will be poop to clean up. Once the money starts coming in, help will be available to you. You can pay to have someone (who you won't see) clean up the barns for you. You'll still need to feed your animals though. You can pay to have someone keep your farm free of boulders and weeds and you can pay to have the vet administer care to a particular breed of animal to stop them from getting sick. You'll need to renew each of these each new season though! THEN you get to go shopping for tractors and harvesters and other shiny attachments to help with your crops. Certain items in the game are only available as your ranking as a farmer increases. There's a lot of work to do in one 6am - 10pm day. You'll need to use your time wisely. You can work past 10pm if you like...but farmers need their sleep and for every hour you work past 10pm, you'll wake up an hour later the next day. With the country fair to participate in each season, an awards cabinet to fill, mini games to play and a farm to tend to, Farm Life will keep you busy for a while. Pick this game up if any of the "Sim" games were to your liking.
