No, it's just a standard FM transmitter. You plug it into the DS' 3.5mm jack and it transmits the sound over radio waves so you can pick it up on your car's speaker. There's a famous one called iTrip for iPods, and numerous third-party solutions that work for any device that has a 3.5mm jack.

In other news, I'm going to give my DS Lite an FM transmitter and use it to play MP3s in my car.
