How do you get one?
Well since this is a Metal Slug medal you have to answer one simple question related to the game play style of this title.
Simply tell us what your personal favorite side scrolling 2D shoot'em up game is and why. You can tell us about the game or a personal experience you had with the game. Also so everyone knows what game you are talking about you will need to add one screen shot or video of the game into your submission. We're not going to be specific here as long as the game you mention has 2D graphics and there's shooting involved a Metal Slug 7 medal will be gracing your profile.

Super R-Type on the SNES was one of the first games I got for that system and I played the death out of it, lots of sleepless nights trying to finish that game.

Final Fantasy IV
A location
Sure it was a platformer but there was a pant load of shooting involved in Super Return of the Jedi. It was the pinnacle of the Super Star Wars series for the SNES combining superb 2D graphics with intense action and one of the most bankable licenses going. When it came to shooting, you were graced with a nice upgrade system that included everything from homing missiles to rapid ion and plasma waves. To top it off the thermal detonator served as your sexy-time smart bomb.
I've also included the following image for no particular reason other than it's absolute awesomeness.

the same as mattmatt12 im not mush of a 2d shooting game but commando is such a good game if it counts thats mine it is such a good shooting game and i like to destroy the planes with a rocket launcher "BOOM"

Well I didn't grow up with any but I like Contra because its damn hard! Kind of like Metal slug which I also love but yeah, Contra offers a more challenging game.

Animal Crossing: Wild World
In m24's wonder kingdom (Wonder-j palace)
Ghosts_'n_Goblins is one of my all time favorite side scrollers.
I first played this on the C64 and later in the arcade and now occasionally on PC using MAME. For its time the graphics were very good. I liked the range of weapons with their different attributes and effects. The game was hard from the start which meant you did not have to go through boring levels to get to the action. This is one game that I played to death and still did not finish.
