Guides \ Nintendo DS - Upcoming in 2010
2009 was a big year for the DS, but as it enters its 6th year the line-up is a little smaller than we've been used to; although, that isn't to say there aren't a few gems.
We hope a few more games are announced shortly, for a release this year, but for now check out our most anticipated games in 2010 on the DS below.
Finally, just a quick note on the hype meter. It's based on how much media hype the game has generated, or we predict it will closer to its release if it's TBA, not necessarily its quality.
Ace Attorney Investigations: Miles Edgeworth
Release Date: February 19, 2010
The Ace Attorney series has been a loyal servant of the Nintendo DS for many years, but it was ready for a bit of a shake up. That's where the Ace Attorney Investigations spin-off comes in. The days of Phoenix Wright are gone, as Miles Edgeworth has taken over the reins as protagonist.
The Investigations series will take us outside of the courtroom, and into the action. Most of the game will be spent inspecting crime scenes, which sounds like a nice change up form the courtroom gameplay we've grown to love. Bring it on!

Sonic Classic Collection
Release Date: March 10, 2010
The Nintendo DS is possibly SEGA's favourite platform. It's fair to say Sonic hasn't faired too well in the 3D arena, but Nintendo's handheld allows them to keep the speedy hedgehog two-dimensional, where he belongs, and to generally high levels of success, might we add.
SEGA has decided to reward DS games for their love of old school Sonic, with Sonic Classic Collection. The compilation contains four classic Sonic games: Sonic the Hedgehog, Sonic the Hedgehog 2, Sonic the Hedgehog 3 and Sonic & Knuckles, along with bonus videos and collectibles. The games will be optimised for portable gaming with a new save at any time function. If you haven't played these before, it's definitely worth a look.

Pokémon HeartGold & SoulSilver
Release Date: March 25, 2010
Pokémon HeartGold & SoulSilver take us back to the gold ol' days of Pokemon on the GameBoy. The Pokemon Gold & Silver remakes feature all new graphics, minigames and touch controls, but the classic games we loved 10 years ago remain.
Chances are many of you here never played them at the time, and aren't aware that there are in fact only 151 real Pokemon, but for those of you that did, Nintendo have freshened up the experience further by including the all new PokeWalker. The bonus peripheral will count steps that you take, while it's on you in real life, and level up your Pokemon accordingly. Oh, and unlike most Pokemon games we only have to wait a week or so after the US for these bad boys!

The Lord of the Rings: Aragorn's Quest
Release Date: Q2 2010
Players assume the role of Aragorn in this third person action/adventure game from Headstrong Games, and embark on his greatest quests from The Lord of the Rings trilogy as they wield his sword, bow or spear on foot and on horseback.
Preparations are underway in Hobbiton for a great party to welcome Aragorn, King of Gondor, and honour Samwise Gamgee for his service during the War of the Ring. The children of the town are eager to learn more of this great man and so Samwise, now Mayor, embarks on a tale of the revered warrior, Strider—as Aragorn is known in his Ranger days—and his most valiant battles.

Duke Nukem Trilogy
Release Date: Q2 2010
Duke Nukem Trilogy, or DNT as the cool kids are apparently calling it, is another compilation of games for the Nintendo DS. It includes Duke Nukem: Critical Mass, Duke Nukem: Chain Reaction, and Duke Nukem: Proving Grounds. The DS version will be primarily a side-scrolling adventure, and looks set to play like the Duke Nukem of old.

Infinite Space
Release Date: Q3 2010
From Platinum Games, the developer behind MadWorld and Bayonetta, it's immediately apparent that Infinite Space is going to be one of the more interesting games on the DS in 2010.
It's an RPG set in space that boasts a massive universe to explore. Come to think of it, the title actually gives that much away. Gamers can create and control their own spaceship, and play with a mate via wireless play. We don't know that much about it, besides the fact that the folks in Japan love it.

Golden Sun DS
Release Date: TBA 2010
The DS didn't get much love at E3 last year, but Golden Sun DS was a nice little surprise, and personally one of my most anticipated games of the year.
The original Golden Sun is still in my GBA, not just because I forgot to take it out, but because it was one of the best games last generation. It's almost criminal that it's been 7 years since the last game, and that it's taken almost 6 years to come to the DS. Not to worry though, as one of the best RPG series of all time is headed to the DS sometime this year.

WarioWare D.I.Y.
Release Date: TBA 2010
Yet another game that's been out in Japan for a while, WarioWare D.I.Y. looks set to continue the strong success of the WarioWare series. The big change this time around is the ability to do it yourself. Yes, for the first time you can create your own quirky split second minigames.

Dragon Quest IX: Sentinels of the Starry Skies
Release Date: TBA 2010
Being a Dragon Quest game, we have no idea if this actually be released in English-speaking regions this year, but it's listed as 2010 at this stage. We certainly hope so, as it's received critical acclaim in Japan, were it was released 6 months ago.
We know that there are several changes to previous Dragon Quest games that make it even more tantalizing. There'll be no random encounters (often a pet hate of part-time RPG players) and the game will focus on multiplayer, while not skimping on the single player experience.

(Hotel Dusk) Last Window: Midnight Promise
Release Date: TBA
Last Window: Midnight Promise is a sequel to 2007's Hotel Dusk: Room 215, and we suspect Hotel Dusk will return to the title when it's dated for a western release. Protagonist Kyle Hyde returns a year after the events of the first game in 1980s Los Angeles. The game will feature the same interesting graphical design and gameplay; however, we have no confirmation that it'll be released outside of Japan this year.

Okamiden
Release Date: TBA
Okami is a fantastic game for the PS2 and Wii. Unfortunately, it's a bit "out there" and didn't receive all that much media attention, or ship anywhere near enough units. For that reason we don't expect it to get too much hype as Okamiden on the DS, but it's shaping up to be another fantastic adventure!

OMFG....people have not played the real Pokemon until they have played Gold, Silver or Crystal. (HGSS)
I really feel sorry for the kids who weren't born then....because us dudes who where around when these came out...know that these were the best games of the series.
I love the remakes but the Pokemon following you around is cool at some points but...i wish i could turn it off and walk by myself like the originals.
Gold and Silver reminded me of so many great memories

Okami and pokemon G/s/c are such great games. 
I love the game controlls for okami wii, and i am sure that the ds one will not be a let-down. =D
