Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars has been granted an MA15+ rating for an Australia release. The first GTA title on DS has drawn controversy that the series is renowned for ever since being announced at E3 2008, mainly due to it's drug references. The conservative OFLC for the second time this week granted an MA15+ rating to a game that received an "18" rating in Britain.

The warning sticker on the game reads MA15+ for "Strong drug references, coarse language, and sexual references." Rockstar have confirmed that no edits were made to secure Australia's highest rating for videogames and that we will in fact be getting the same version as the rest of the world.

A majority of DS titles fall into the G or PG rating categories. GTA: Chinatown Wars is one of the few titles that will be targeted exclusively to a more mature audience, being restricted for sale only to those over 15 years of age.

Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars will be released in Australia on March 20 2009.
