News \ Pokemon Becomes the World's Fastest Selling DS Games

The latest installment in the hit Pokemon series, Pokemon Platinum, has quickly become the world’s fastest selling DS game. The game which was released in Japan last Saturday has sold 967,675 copies after just 2 days on sale. The title which is yet to arrive in any other region had easily passed the 1 million sales mark by the Monday, and third day the new Pokemon adventure was on sale. It’s fair to say Japan have been busy getting their Pokemon on!

The sales continue to rapidly increase, to put this into perspective two little games you may have heard of Pokémon Diamond and Pearl together sold 1.58 in their first week in Japan. The total sale figures currently stand at approximately 5,571,456 copies in the region leaving Pokemon Platinum well on par to shatter this record considering it has reached 1 fifth of the lifetime sales of it’s 2 processors combined in a number of days. Pokémon Diamond and Pearl were the previous holders of the fastest selling DS game title but in true fashion they have been bumped of by the new and improved model.

Pokemon Platinum will arrive in English speaking regions including Australia in 2009.

there is already a patch which translates everything that was in d/p into english in pearl - therefore everything new in platinum is still in funny characters

I was just thinking the same thing while reading the story. That means I Have to listen to my son nag me for that long. I may have to get him Japanese lessons.
