Firmware version 1.12 of R4 has problem with rom "1770 Tales of Innocence (J)" where the intro movie get stuck unless it is bypassed by continuously pressing the A button before it plays. The latest firmware (1.13) fixes that problem.

I think it is impressive that the R4 team comes up with a fix just a few days after the problem occur. One of the many reason why R4 is still one of the more popular slot-1 cart out there.

It had; unlike some other flash card all firmware required by the R4 is located at the root directory of the miniSD card, otherwise the R4 will not work.

To update the firmware first you need to download the kernal from the website and unzip it to a folder. Then copy all the files to the root of your SD card, overwrite existing files if required.

How to update R4?
After downloading and decompressing the new updated files, there will be one moonshl folder and two files _DS_MENU.DAT, _DS_MSHL.NDS.Copy these files to the root directory of TF card to replace the former files


once you copy and paste these 3 files it'll ask to replace old files. Just click "yes to all" and it'll be done.
